We waste way too much of our lives ‘going to work’. Instead, we should all be making more money by advancing our careers and working in our own businesses. Face it, we never ‘work’ for anyone else like we will for ourselves. So here is a 3-step approach to stop going to work and to get more done for your life, career, family and society.
1) Literally, stop going to work! At least once a week, work from home or a 3rd space (coffee shop, library, food court). Instantly you stopped unnecessary distractions from colleagues, you can control your phone and the new environment will help to keep you awake and productive.
2) Stop seeing work as work. If you were unemployed for 3 years… how happy would you be to be given the job you have right now? Thrilled? Then quit complaining about the ‘work’. It’s a blessing. Instead see it as a ladder to another promotion or position. View it as a learning experience or a way to impress your client (boss).
3) Rethink, re-plan, reinvent your career every 2 to 3 months. Spend a couple hours on a long lunch or on a Saturday afternoon rethinking what you are doing. Are you on track with plans, goals and lifestyle? If yes, continue on course. If not, make some course corrections.

I just discovered a new productivity app: www.irunurun.com. It helps keep people on track with their goals. I entered 5 of mine and get a daily reminder. I click on the days I’ve made progress and it gives me a % report of my success. Give it a try. Maybe you too will stop going to work and start accomplishing more, making more money, spending more time with family, friends and what matters to you most. Be productive today!
